We will be more than happy to design an indo board session to suit your needs...

1, IndoBoarding is literally "The Board sport for everyone, Everywhere!" Up until now all board sports require specific criteria that limits participation due to geographical and meteorological constraints. the only requirement for the Indo Board is a flat surface and an open space to accommodate the movement of the device.

2. IndoBoarding is co-educational, allowing males and females to participate together in a fun, healthy and creative activity.

3. IndoBoarding builds character through individual challenges through creating new challenges in an almost endless cycle. The standout creates, explores practices and learns balance board movement skills which are fun , stimulating and personally rewarding.

4. IndoBoarding is a "Gateway" to to alternative sports that have captured the imagination of todays youth culture. Participation numbers in traditional and team sports have declined, while numbers are soaring with millions embracing these new lifestyle activities.

Indo boarding extreme

Last month the North Dorset School Sport Partnership was one of 3 SSPs shortlisted for a national innovation award for “The creation of a new activity/approach to engaging the diverse needs of young people”. This was presented by Baroness Sue Campbell, Chair of the Youth Sport Trust and UK Sport, in recognition of the work the Partnership is doing with Indoeurope using Indoboards in North Dorset secondary schools; work which they are currently continuing to build upon.

As part of this work over 120 students at Sturminster Newton High School were recently lucky enough to experience a day with Indoboarding technicians Kevin, Adriano & Jase, from Indoeurope. A range of students from Year 8’s to 6th formers were taken through their paces on an Indo Board Balance Trainer. Originally designed for surf balance training, Indo boarding increases core strength, leg strength and balance co-ordination. It is a great cross training tool for any sporting discipline that requires agility & balance.

As beginners the students were introduced to the balance cushion which holds a wooden board 70cm long. The students learnt basic techniques in balancing whilst performing squats, press ups and throwing and catching in pairs. Once mastered the students were introduced to the roller. The roller is a 15cm diameter cylindrical tube which allows the wooden board to move. Students had a fantastic time trying simple manoeuvres and more difficult tricks. A lunchtime session was organised specifically for the students who are off skiing in March. The Indo board will enable the students to be ski fit before they venture into the mountains!

The day was organised through Lottery funding from the North Dorset School Sport Partnership. Sturminster Newton High School students now have the opportunity to attend a 5 week after school club to learn more techniques and skills whilst improving their overall fitness.

“This was a superb day which the students really enjoyed, and they look forward to having a chance to challenge themselves further in the forthcoming weeks.”

Kay Evans, School Sport Coordinator @ Sturminster Newton High School

Indo Boarding Takes Off In North Dorset

Kevin Hubble, personal trainer, & Adrian Roldan, from Indoeurope (www.indoeurope.com) , were invited to come to Shaftesbury Sports College to demonstrate the use of Indoboards, with a view to introducing it as an Active Lunchtime activity in the Partnership secondary schools.

Kevin demonstrated how the board can be used as a complete body workout, and put the SSCo team through a gruelling, but fun, introductory session. The next day one member of staff said, “Ache or what? Legs, tummy you name it... I’ve been Indoed!”

Students from Shaftesbury were invited to attend taster sessions during their PE lessons throughout the day, and ,as is usually the case with things like this, took to it like ducks to water. Some were even shooting baskets whilst balancing on the board... after only one session! (See last picture.) Staff will certainly have to practice hard if they are to stay ahead of the game in this activity.

It proved to be popular, with pupils coming back for more at lunchtime. A small group of Year 11 students were practicing advanced moves by their 2nd session, and are keen to learn more so that they can lead the lunchtime sessions in the future. So, watch this space for a club coming to your school… Many thanks to Kevin, who worked patiently with staff, and was challenged by fast learning students!

Indoboarding is addictive!

Designed by Hunter Joslin, an avid user of balance boards since 1965.
The INDO BOARD balance trainer is simple, stable and user friendly. Anybody can ride with a few basic instructions and something to hold onto initially. The learning curve is a mere 10 to 15 minutes for most. After that, Indoboarding becomes routinely easy and fun. The product’s simplicity has enabled it to become a truly multifunctional fitness tool. Most importantly, once again, it’s FUN!
